Background Information

Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires 4 to 6 additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after completion of dental school. As oral and maxillofacial surgeons, Dr. Bruksch and Dr. Altman manage a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth, and facial regions. Drs. Bruksch and Altman practice a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from corrective jaw surgery to wisdom tooth removal. They can also diagnose and treat facial pain, facial injuries, TMJ disorders, and perform a full range of reconstructive and dental implant procedures as well as oral cancer screening examinations.

Dr. Bruksch maintains staff privileges at OSF/St. Anthony Medical Center, UW-Swedish-American Hospital, MercyHealth Rockford Hospital, and The Rockford Ambulatory Surgery Center. Dr. Bruksch is a Board Certified by The American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and The National Board of Dental Anesthesiology. Rockford OMS has been providing Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery care for patients in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin since 1986. Although it is helpful to have a referral to our office, it is not necessary. We will be happy to evaluate your condition and also provide referrals to other dental or medical providers if necessary. Healthcare is better suited to a team approach. We believe that specialty care should be provided by a specialist.

Surgical Staff

The surgical staff at Rockford OMS are experienced oral and maxillofacial surgical assistants, who assist in the administration of I.V. sedation, general anesthesia, and surgery within our state-of-the-art office facility. Patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery. Our staff has over 50 years of combined experience in the oral surgical field. All staff members are cross-trained for surgery and anesthetic duties. Our administrative staff is well-versed in health and insurance policies. All office personnel are CPR and ACLS certified. We maintain strict sterilization practices and are committed to the health and safety of our patients.
