After Bone Grafting

The goal is to keep the graft site clean and free of food debris, without disturbing the sutures and membrane.  If prescribed Peridex rinse, an easy way to do this is by dipping a Q-tip in the rinse and dabbing the surgical site.  You can brush your teeth as you normally would, but we recommend being careful around the sutures.

We also recommend maintaining a soft diet, especially if there is the graft or membrane exposed.  Once the gum tissue completely covers the graft (typically around 2-3 weeks), less maintenance and caution is necessary.

For general post-operative questions please see the After Dental Implant section.
